- Background
- Solid color, patterns, images or video used behind letters.
- Character generator
- Device used to superimpose text onto a video signal.
- Crawl
- Effect, characters march horizontally onto the screen in a single row.
- Cut
- Transition effect, a page appears or disappears instantly.
- Duration
- Length of time a page is displayed.
- Fade
- Transition effect, the titles fade away to leave the background or viceversa.
- Page
- Lines of text or graphics to be displayed together when the titles are played.
- Scroll
- Effect, a page of titles slides up smoothly from below the screen
until all titles slide off the screen.
- Slide
- Like Scroll but can slide in any direction and can start or stop in screen.
- Superimposing
- To place a page of titles over a video signal.
- Titling
- The addition of text to a video image.
- Transition Effect
- Used to introduce, display and remove a page of titles.
- Wipe
- Transition effect, an image is "wiped" off the screen and replaced by another.
